Start: Lanark Loch car park (ML11 9BJ) Grid ref. NS 897 429
(S/E) From the car park, walk toward the wooden arch then walk downhill across the playground to reach the lockside. Turn right and just follow the path along the loch with the water on your left-hand side.
(1) When you reach the junction with the "Lanark Moor Cycle Trail" waymarker, you can either carry on along the shore or take a detour right uphill keeping left at the Y-junction. Walk uphill to reach a road and find an alternative car park on your right. Turn left along the road.
(2) At the second footpath on your left, turn and follow the Blue Arrow waymakers into the woods. At the next junction keep left downhill then ignore the path left and keep going downhill following the blue arrow sign.
(3) At the next path junction, turn left downhill to cross the wooden bridge at the bottom. After crossing the stream and bridge, carry on straight ahead uphill. At the top of the hill turn right.
(4) As you go downhill keep left towards the lock. You reach back the loch shore path where you turn right on the tarmac and keep going along the loch with the water on your left-hand side.
(5) Be careful as you walk past the sign "Warning Danger of Golf Balls" as you are going to walk alongside the golf course and players will be straight ahead in front of you. Keep along the loch shore until you reach back the car park where you started. (S/E)
