Lake Aspevatnet

Aspevatnet is a pretty little lake with stunning turquoise water in a beautiful setting at the foot of the Lyngen Alps. Worth a visit if you don't have time to see Blåisvatnet, or as an extra. Please note that parking is paid.

Description of the walk

Park in the paid car park on the road leading up to Lenangen.

(S/E) Follow the signs towards Aspevatnet. Cross a small stream via a footbridge. Ignore the path that branches off to the left towards Blåisvatnet and continue to a small intersection.

(1) Turn left towards some small hytter (cabins) and cross a larger river. Then follow the river up the left bank to the lake's spillway. Walk along the lake on the right and climb up a small path to a small shelter to admire this beautiful lake from a little higher up with the Lyngen Alps facing you.

(2) Head straight back down to the lake and return to the car park via the same route you took on the way there (S/E).

Practical information

Paid parking (Easy Park or pay machine).

Visited at the end of July 2025, we were unable to pay for parking. However, the number plate recognition system worked and we received the bill from the rental company afterwards: 145 NOK!

Bring suitable footwear in case of wet weather (the end of the trail is muddy).
