Description of the walk

Start from La Frette Montigny station (Transilien line J). Parking available in the car park.

(S/E) On leaving the station, turn left onto Rue de la Gare and soon turn left again to go under the railway bridge. Continue straight on for about 200 m.

(1) Then turn right onto Rue de la Grande Côte and head downhill. At the end, turn left onto Rue Jean Lefebvre (red and white GR®2 markings). At the crossroads shortly afterwards, take the second right, Rue Gambetta.

(2) After about a hundred metres, turn left onto a footpath (keep an eye out for this turn-off). Take the steps and continue along the Sente du Haut des Côtes d’Herblay. Further on, the footpath gives way to Rue des Frères Bolifraud. Follow this street straight on until you reach Saint-Martin Church.

(3) Go round the church on the right and turn left into Rue Jean XXIII. Then turn right, leaving the cemetery on your left, and head down Chemin des Écoliers.

(4) You will come out onto Rue du Val; follow it to the left until you reach the banks of the Seine.

(5) Follow Quai du Génie to the left and walk along the river for about 400 m.

(6) Then turn left onto Rue de La Frette, which is a footpath. Go straight on, then continue along Rue des Prés (lovely view of the Seine). At the end, turn right onto Rue Jean Lefebvre.

(7) Return to the banks of the Seine and turn left onto Quai de la Seine. Continue along the river, passing the town hall of La Frette-sur-Seine, and arrive at Saint-Nicolas Church.

(8) Continue straight on along Quai de la Seine. After a car park on the right-hand side, you’ll reach a fork in the road.

(9) Turn left onto Chemin Côte à Boivin and head uphill. Cross Sente des Verjus on the left and continue for a few dozen metres along Rue Guy de Maupassant.

(10) Take the first right onto Rue des Picardes. Cross Avenue Jean Mermoz and arrive at a junction.

(11) Take the second left, Rue de la Mardelle. At the end, turn left onto Rue de Verdun. At the junction, continue straight ahead onto Boulevard de Lorraine. Keep going straight until you reach the Gymnase Alsace Lorraine.

(12) Then turn right onto Rue de Strasbourg. Pass Rue de Reims on your right, cross Rue du Général Sarrail and turn right onto Rue de Nancy. At the traffic lights, go straight ahead, then turn left to cross the bus station tracks at the pedestrian crossings. Then take the tunnel that goes under the railway tracks. On the other side, turn left to reach Place Pierre Semard, opposite Cormeilles-en-Parisis station.

(13) Turn right onto Avenue Foch. Cross Boulevard Joffre at the traffic lights and continue straight on along Avenue Foch. Cross Rue Carnot and, at the fork ahead, turn left onto Avenue de la Libération. Continue straight on, continuing along Rue Maurice Berteaux until you reach a junction with Rue Thibault Chabrand.

(14) Follow this street to the right. Take the first left, Rue Daguerre. When this turns left, turn right. At the T-junction, follow Rue de la Montée Saint-Martin to the left. At the end, turn left into Rue Jean Jaurès. At the end, turn right into Rue Paul Bloch and immediately left into Rue Pierre Dupont.

(15) Head right towards Fort de Cormeilles along a winding path marked PR®, taking the Chemin du Tour du Fort. At the junction of paths near Les Biaumes, turn left, ignore all paths branching off to the left and continue straight ahead. Pass close to the corner of the fort and reach a junction on the left just before the Chemin du Tour du Fort begins to curve to the right.

(16) Leave the Chemin du Tour du Fort, which continues straight ahead, and head downhill to the left. At a crossroads, the path leads towards Montigny-lès-Cormeilles and joins a road. Follow Rue de Montigny to the right for about fifty metres, then turn left onto a downhill track. You’ll come to a street; follow it to the left.

(17) At the end, turn left onto Rue des Bergères. Take the first right, Rue des Grands Fonds. Pass a cul-de-sac on the left, then Rue Jeanne d'Arc on the right. Cross Boulevard de Pontoise at the traffic lights and continue along Rue Marcelin Berthelot. At the junction (post office on the left), take the second right, still on Rue Marcelin Berthelot. Go straight on and you will soon see La Frette Montigny station on your left (S/E).

Very difficult to find or turn at point 16, forced to continue and rejoin Rue de Verdun to catch up with the route.
At point 9, there is a significant elevation gain on the Côte à Boivin.
For the start, the car park is in a blue zone.
