La Roche Péréandre and the Marc Seguin suspension bridge

A circular route starting from Vernosc-lès-Annonay, offering views of the rocky peak of Roche Péréandre (a climbing site), as well as the suspension bridge designed by Marc Seguin, a native of Annonay. His technique was, in fact, used all over the world, such as on the Tancarville Bridge in Normandy, the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco and the Brooklyn Bridge in New York.

A rather uninspiring walk: sections through woods with no views and plenty of tarmac, exposed to the sun. Perhaps best done in autumn to enjoy the autumn colours and the gentler sunshine.

A pleasant short walk, but be careful of the sun – the trees don’t offer much shelter. You’ll need good walking shoes, as the ground is stony.

Disappointed by the trails, which were in poor condition. They’d been damaged by mountain bikes, motorbikes and so on during our walk.

A lovely walk for two.
We took a wrong turn and ended up doing the circular route in the wrong direction.
We missed the suspension bridge – a shame.
Never mind, it was a lovely day, and I got to meet a wonderful person.

The path leading down to the D270 road is quite steep... were those the mountain bikes or motorbikes we saw on other paths?
No. 4 The path leading uphill for the return to Vernosc-les-Annonay – perfect
A lovely walk for a Sunday afternoon... Heritage Day, when someone explained the history of the suspension bridge and life in this area, with the mill and the silk-reeling businesses, etc.

I only read the previous comments once I’d set off on the trail: I almost turned back. I’m really glad I carried on. Admittedly, the first section is rocky, but once you’ve passed point 2, it’s much easier. Personally, when I do it again, I’ll start from point 4, just to begin with the climb and take my time. Once the route is complete, you can enjoy the Roche Péréandre and the suspension bridge.

I was very disappointed with this short hike; the route is supposedly signposted but isn’t, the paths are barely passable, and the route is much longer than advertised!!
To tackle this hike, make sure you wear a pair of trainers and, above all, are in good physical shape, as the path is stony and difficult to navigate!

A very unpleasant hike through a forest swarming with horseflies – one of the worst hikes I’ve ever done. Nothing of note. I wouldn’t recommend it.
