The Miayra Forest from Bessède-de-Sault

Park in the car park opposite the town hall.

(S/E) From the town hall, head north, go through a tunnel and, at the Y-junction, turn right and stay on this tarmac section until you reach a junction.

(1) Carry on straight ahead and, a few dozen metres further on, leave the road to take the path opposite, which climbs and rejoins the road later on. Stay on the path opposite.

(2) After the high-voltage power line, head uphill to the right and, further on, join a forest track.

(3) Carry on straight ahead along this track until you reach a junction (note that the junction is a little further on than shown on the IGN map).

(4) Head downhill to the left (this section of the actual route differs from the IGN track) and you’ll come out onto a road.

(5) Turn right onto it to join the D83 road.

(6) Turn right onto it to enter the village of Le Clat.

(7) Turn right on entering and stay on the main road.

(8) At the Y-junction, make a 180° turn to the right to join the Chemin du Soula. Continue along this route until you reach an inconspicuous junction.

(9) Turn right and head uphill. Further on, cross a dry stream bed and head left (please note that the signposting is rather sparse and the actual route differs from the IGN map). Further on, there are a few steep sections and a final climb that seems interminable, especially as it can be very slippery, so exercise the utmost caution. After all this effort, you’ll come out onto a forest track.

(10) Turn left and, further on, you’ll come to a sign pointing to a viewpoint on the left. Turn left to reach the viewpoint.

(11) Return to the junction, continue left along the track and follow it all the way to another junction.

(12) Turn slightly to the right so that, further on, you rejoin the original junction.

(1) Return to the village of Bessède-de-Sault by taking the tarmac road on the left (S/E).
