Description of the walk

In Aubière, park in the Place de l'Europe car park. By bus: line E1, Artière stop.

(S/E) With your back to the car park, cross Avenue Grevenmacher at the bus stop and take the street opposite, which runs alongside the shared gardens on your right. Turn onto the first path on the right and you will arrive at the edge of Artière. The riverbanks were redeveloped in 2025/2026. Continue left until you reach the footbridge.

(1) Cross the river and turn right. At the roundabout, continue straight ahead to the crossroads.

(2) Cross and continue straight on Avenue Jean Curabet (Franck Bayle Park on your right), then Rue des Moulins, until you reach Place de la République.

(3) Turn left, keep left at the fork immediately after, then continue straight ahead to the intersection with Rue du Chambon. Follow it to the left for a few metres, then turn right onto Rue de Pérignat. Continue to the end of the street, ignoring the streets on the right.

(4) Continue along the path that extends the street. Go straight up, ignoring the side paths, to the top of Puy d'Aubière, at a crossroads (information sign, cross). Turn right and go over the top of the hill.

(5) Continue and pass a relay antenna, then take the first path down to the right. Further down, ignore a path on the right and you will reach the end of a street, Chemin du Puy. Follow it and ignore a street on the left.

(6) Discover the wine cellars by going straight down Rue des Grandes Caves. Reach the centre of Aubière at the car park and L'Artière on the left. Go left along Place des Ramacles, turn right onto Rue Magenta, then take the first right onto Rue du Verger. At the end, turn left and you will arrive at Place de l'Église Saint-Martin.

(7) Walk along the left-hand side to reach Rue Béranger, first turn right then left. At the intersection with Rue de la République and Rue Saint-Antoine, first turn left then right and follow Rue de la Treille. At the small roundabout at the intersection with Rue de Verdun, follow the path between the park and the cemetery, slightly to the left. You can visit the cemetery, which has some beautiful trees. Enter and exit through the same gate. At the end of the path, you will find the car park (S/E).
