In Palavas-les-Flots, park to the east of the centre, for example on Avenue Saint-Maurice as shown on the map. Parking is paid throughout the year in the entire municipality (€8/day in 2023).
(S/E) Head to the beach as soon as possible (note the access point you will take for the return journey) and follow it with the sea on your left until you reach the eastern Lez dyke.
(1) Make a short round trip to the statue, then walk back up the dyke and along Quai Paul Cunq towards the town centre until you reach the bridge over the Lez.
(2) Cross the river, turn left and walk about 50 metres along Quai Georges Clémenceau, then turn right onto Rue Substantion. Walk to the end of the street, then turn left and head for the beach.
(3) Follow the beach, with the sea on your left, until you reach the dyke of a channel between the sea and the Étang du Prévost.
(4) Turn right to cross the bridge, then turn left immediately on the other side. Continue along the beach until you see a mound of large stones on your right.
(5) Turn right to reach it and leave the beach. You will arrive at a path bordering a pond and at the end of a small road. Follow this road straight ahead, between the pond and the marshes on your left. At the end of the pond, take the path on the right, lined with tall bamboo, then climb a few steps to reach a large esplanade. Continue straight ahead, then turn left after the companions' shop to find the old cathedral. Free admission.
(6) When leaving the site, walk past the entrance to the companions' shop and continue straight ahead on the small access road. At the car park, take the access road to the beach straight ahead.
(7) Follow the beach with the sea on your right, crossing the bridge over the channel until you reach the Palavas marina.
(8) Walk back and forth along the seawall, retrace your steps and go around the harbour as closely as possible to reach the western seawall of the Lez. Turn left onto Quai Georges Clémenceau until you reach the bridge and cross the Lez.
(2) On the other side, turn right onto Quai Paul Cunq and walk about 50 metres, then turn left onto Rue Simon. Take the second right onto Rue Saint-Pierre. At the corner of the church, turn left onto Rue de l'Église.
(9) Behind the church, enter the park on the right. After visiting, go to the foot of the Phare de la Méditerranée lighthouse, where there is another entrance to the garden, and exit onto Rue Saint-Pierre. Follow it to the left and head for the beach.
(10) Follow the beach with the sea on your right, then take the same route you took at the start of the walk to return to the car park (S/E).
