Description of the walk

Start: Car park (Free) along the Main Street in East Wemyss. Grid ref. NT 340 967

(S/E) From the car park, walk to reach the sea and coastal path. Turn left to walk North-East along the paved footpath until you reach a second car park with houses with Buddha statues on your left. Along the way, open wide your eyes and try to spot seals.

(1) The footpath becomes a clear footpath where you follow the Fife Coastal Path waymarker. Along the way, you will be able to enjoy natural caves on your left-hand side of the sandstone cliff. They are closed for safety reasons. The path then goes up some stairs to reach the castle ruins on your right side and the cemetery on your left.

(2) Turn right to walk past the ruins (Please do not enter the castle as the area is quite unstable) and walk down the steps to reach a footpath which you follow left along the seaside. Keep along this path and try to spot some side walks on your left to enjoy the little hidden caves.

(3) When you reach Jonathan's Cave, walk using the same way back to the car park. (S/E)
