Description of the walk

From Herrenweiherpark in Regglisweiler, we walk along Bergstraße through the village and climb up to the Altenberg along the edge of the forest, the former site of two castles. A narrow path leads past the moat. We make our way down through the forest, turn off towards Dietenheim and reach the Iller. We now follow the path along the Iller and through the magnificent floodplain landscape with its many tree species and lush vegetation.

Author: Alb-Donau District Tourism

The straightened and fast-flowing River Iller has since been slowed down again by the construction of weirs, in order to protect the floodplain forest and mitigate the risk of flood damage.
