(S/E) St. Nicholas Church in Hillesden. Often called the Cathedral in the Fields, this striking 15th century church features historic bullet holes from an English Civil War siege.
(1) & (2) Preston Bissett and Gawcott are picturesque rural villages nestled in rolling countryside, just a few miles southwest of the historic town of Buckingham.
(3) Lenborough isn’t a full village: it’s a tiny, quiet hamlet consisting of old farmhouses and converted barns rather than a bustling high street.
(4) From Lenborough, we alight onto the meandering, willow-lined path of the Padbury Brook, which acts as a haven for wildlife and waterfowl.

This walk starts and ends at Willen Local Centre (parking). You travel northwards to Tongwell Lake, then westwards to the Grand Union Canal at Giffard Park. Much of the route is southwards alongside the canal until reaching Campbell Park. The route continues southwards beside the canal, leaving the Canal Broadwalk to enter Woolstone in the direction of The Barge pub. It then continues towards the River Ouzel, turning northwards towards Willen Lake and from there back to Willen Local Centre.
