Description de la randonnée

Start : Car park, junction along the railway line on the way to Rushbed Woods Nature Reserve (Nearby postcode HP18 0RX) Grid ref. SP673 153.

(S/E) From the car park, head North along the Ludgershall road, and shortly (85m) turn left along a lane, crossing the railway line and arriving in Rushbed Woods Nature Reserve car park. In the far left hand corner of the car park you can find the information point. Go through the gate there and follow the path.

(1) After a few hundred metres (500m) the path turns right. Keep following until you emerge from the woods at a gate, opening out onto the reserve's meadow. Follow the path diagonally across the meadow and at the far side go through the gap in the hedge.

(2) Turn left on to the road and immediately left again on to a grassy lane between hedges. Follow this as it joins a made road until you get to a T-junction with a larger road.

(3) Turn left onto the main road. Almost immediately, after the house, there is a field gate on your left, with a public footpath entrance to the field somewhat concealed in the hedge on its right. Follow the left hand side of the field, until arriving in the far corner, turn right at a T-junction of footpaths. Continue across fields, and eventually a paddock, passing just to the left of farm buildings and out to a road.

(4) Go straight across the road and up the hill towards Brill. Eventually, suburban houses appear, and there is a footpath sign on the left between houses opposite the fire station.

(5) Follow the path through to a sports field, following the made path on the left around to the right, and passing to the right of a fenced ball-games court. The path arrives at a small, oval car-park. Turn right into the car-park, turning left when you reach the residential road. The road meanders to the right becoming after 100m an unmade lane, and reaching a gate on your left into fields. Go straight into the field (admiring the view) downhill and to another gate.

(6) Go through the gate, following the path downward along the side of the woods, turning left into the woods after 400m when the hill has bottomed out, crossing a small stream on a wooden plank. Continue straight through the woods, downhill and then up again. At another stile the path emerges into a paddock with a T-junction path, but just before the path there is a grassy footpath between the hedges on the left. Follow this, crossing a dilapidated stile, and arriving at a bench and a wide metal farm gate into a field, and shortly a wide wooden farm gate with footpath signs attached.

(7) Turn right through the gate, keeping the fence and hedges on your right. Cross another stile, and eventually cross a stile to arrive on a road. Turn left, and after 200m turn right on the main road, crossing the railway bridge and arriving at the starting point. (S/E).
