Start: Quarry Mount Car park just next to Royalty Cinema, Bowness on Windermere. Grid ref SD 405 971
(S/E) From the car park, turn left (North-East) along Lake Road. After 125m just before Hazeldene Guest House, turn left along Bank Road. Follow the road as it curves right and at the end of the houses on the left, turn down the tiny footpath towards the Rugby Club (it feels like going into someone's garden but there is actually a public footpath).
(1) At Longlands Road, turn right past the Rugby Pitch and after 200m turn left at the footpath sign to Ray Rigg. At Rayrigg Road (A592) main road, turn right and follow the road North until you see RayRigg Hall and a bus stop on your left with a wooden signpost.
(2) Take the footpath on your left with a sign to "Low Milleground". Cross the field (260m) to a gate and you will see the beach and the lake.
(3) Turn right (North) either along the path or beach. You will come to the landing stage where there are seats and pontoons. Carry on through this following the lakeshore path and you will come to Low Miller Ground where there is a watersports centre.
(4) Follow the path right up around the slate building away from the shore, over the bridge and up alongside the waterfall back up to Rayrigg road (A592).
(5) Cross the road to reach the opposite pavement. Then, turn right to walk downhill along the road and past the adventure centre on your right, at the road junction, turn left up Birthwaite Road. After about 150 yards, there is a metal gate on the right and a footpath. Cross the road and turn right to continue on the footpath.
(6) As you reach a Y-junction into the woods, keep left uphill and walk until you reach a T-junction. You're back to Longlands Road. Turn right, the footpath becomes paved.
Just before the end of the 'Private Road', you will see a sign on the left for ' Sherriffs walk'. The waterfall is a few yards in on the left and worth a look. Otherwise, continue back along Longlands Road back to the Rugby club and on to Hazeldene then back to Quarry Mount Car park. (S/E)
