Formby Squirrel Asparagus Trail

(S/E) Take the path north along the boundary of the reserve through pines.

(1) Exit gate and take track northwest (left). The path bears north, info board regarding asparagus production.
Continue North on well defined track through a pine wood. Good area for red squirrels.

(2) Cross the road and join Cornerstone Walk trail. Refreshment and toilets normally available here. Continue on path through trees keeping caravan park on the west (left) then out into dunes. Follow path north through dunes towards pine wood. before turning west (left) along a substantial path to the beach.

(3) Head south (left) along beach keeping close to dunes particularly if the tide is high.

(4) Leave beach east (left) into dunes.

(5) Just before clearing take path south (right). beside asparagus field. Another information board concerning asparagus production. Cross road and take track on West of hospice.

(6) Take path east (left) up the slope back to start.(S/E)

Parking at start L37 2YJ.
Bus F3 to start.
The train station at Formby.
Food, drink, toilets usually available at (3).
