The walk starts from Chaville Right Bank station.
(S) From the station, turn right onto Rue Carnot, then at the end of this street, enter Parc de la Martinière.
(1) Cross the park, carefully following the GR® 2 opposite, which leads to the Étang de la Ville d’Avray, passing through the Carrefour de la Barrière Neuve, the Carrefour des Mortes Fontaines and the Carrefour du Grand Veneur, until you reach the Carrefour de l’Étang Neuf. Continue straight on, walking alongside the pond on the left along the Chemin de l’Étang Neuf. At the end of the lake, turn left to walk the length of it. When you reach the end, turn right onto Rue des Deux Etangs and continue to Rue de Versailles.
(2) Turn right, then just before the car park, turn left onto a path heading towards the Carrefour du Trou Pouilleux, which leads into the woods.
(3) At the large crossroads in the woods, carry on straight ahead, veering slightly to the right. Cross the road and carry on straight ahead. When you reach the cemetery, walk alongside it and then turn right. Take the cemetery entrance to reach a road.
(4) Turn right and walk alongside the cemetery wall. Turn left onto Rue Neuve Thierry, then onto Allée de l’Alboni.
(5) Turn left onto Rue Gabriel Sommet and walk behind the church and the town hall of Marnes-la-Coquette. At the stop sign, enter the town centre by crossing Rue Georges Xavier (this street is signposted ‘G. and X. Schlumberger’) and continue straight ahead through Place de la Mairie, walking round it.
(6) Turn left into Square Pasteur and continue through the park. Enter the woods via the path on the left. Cross a junction, continue straight ahead and you’ll reach a road: turn right onto it and follow the A13 for a short while, then turn left to go through the A13 tunnel (the Normandy motorway). Cross the railway line via the footbridge.
(7) Walk along the left-hand side of the Étang de Garches, come to a road and turn right, then left. This road becomes a footpath leading to the junction with Boulevard Raymond Poincaré.
(8) Turn right onto Boulevard Raymond Poincaré; a little further on, turn left into Parc Casimir Davaine and cross it, staying firmly on the same path and ignoring the ones on the right, until you reach a road. Turn slightly left onto Avenue de Brétigny and follow it for about 50 metres.
(9) Turn right onto Allée des Haras, walking alongside the Résidence des Isis, then turn left onto Allée des Genets.
(10) Cross a road and continue straight ahead to enter the Parc du Coteau Boisé. About halfway through the park, veer slightly to the right to rejoin a road. Head left until you reach the crossroads.
(11) At the foot of the water tower, take the path to the right of the water tower and walk past a sports ground and then the stadium before reaching the pedestrian crossing at a roundabout.
(12) Cross this pedestrian crossing and take a path through the woods for about 30 metres. Then take the Route de Villeneuve on the left through the woods. At the crossroads, turn right, then left, and continue straight ahead along the Route forestière de Villeneuve. This path becomes a road, which you should follow.
(13) At the junction, turn left onto the Route de Saint-Cucufa, then turn right straight away and head towards the Étang de Saint-Cucufa. Keep to the left of the lake.
(14) Head straight ahead into the Malmaison State Forest. Keep to the left and ignore the paths branching off to the right. Continue straight on along the Route de Versailles and enter Rueil-Malmaison.
(15) Turn left onto the Chemin du Ponceau, then immediately right onto the Chemin du Paradis. At the end, take the hairpin bend to the right and carry on to the end of this street. Walk alongside the Cognac Jay Foundation and you’ll come out onto a road.
(16) Turn left onto the road and follow it for a few metres, then turn right onto Rue des Chèvremont. At the sharp right-hand bend, turn left onto Rue des Sorins. At Avenue de Versailles, turn right, go through a set of traffic lights and continue straight on along Rue Charles Floquet.
(17) At the bend, turn left and follow the road for about 100 metres, then enter the Parc de Bois Préau opposite. Head towards the Château de Bois Préau and arrive at Square Charles Floquet. Continue to the right along Avenue de l’Impératrice Joséphine, pass the Maison Municipale du Combattant and carry on along Rue Jean le Coz until you reach the Church of Saint-Pierre-Saint-Paul.
(18) Opposite the church, turn left onto Rue Paul Vaillant Couturier, then right onto Rue Trumeau and walk past the Villa Emilie de Rodot. Cross the road and continue along Rue Beauharnais.
(19) Turn left onto Rue Haute, then right onto Rue de la Libération and walk alongside the Collège Notre Dame. At the junction, turn left onto Boulevard de l’Hôpital Stell, walk alongside the hospital complex, then immediately afterwards, first turn right then left onto Rue Molière and walk past the United Protestant Church of Rueil-Nanterre.
(20) Cross the pedestrian crossing on Rue Danton with care, and head opposite towards Rueil Cemetery via Rue des Gibets; continue straight on, then, at the end of the cemetery, turn right onto Rue des Belles Vues, then Rue d’Eglantine, and take the steps to reach Rue Danton. Turn left and walk a few metres, then turn left onto Rue Lamartine. Walk past the nursery school and the Moulin des Gibets.
(21) Take the hairpin bend to the right, then turn left onto Rue de Buzenval. At the junction, take the road on the right, Rue des Chailliers, then turn left onto Rue Jean Moulin. At the end of this street, turn left, then, at the roundabout, turn right onto Rue du Calvaire. Pass between the two Suresnes cemeteries, then the equestrian centre on your left.
(22) Go round Fort du Mont Valérien on the right, taking the Jacques Baumel departmental promenade. Then exit via the Chemin des Poneys down the steps.
(23) Turn right, go round the roundabout on the right, staying on Boulevard Washington for a few metres, then turn right onto Boulevard Washington. Next, turn left onto Rue du Fecheray. At the end, turn left then right to reach Suresnes Mont Valérien station (E).
