Dove Stone reservoir

Start: Bank Ln, Greenfield, Oldham (OL3 7NE) Grid ref. SE 013 034

(S/E) From the car park, pass the toilet and then take right (West) on the road. Continue straight on this road (Peak District Boundary Stage 4) until you reach a hamlet. Pass the houses and continue straight on the path until you reach a second hamlet (1.3 Km).

(1) At the second hamlet, turn left to take the path (GM Ringway Stage 8 / Oldham Way) slightly above the previous one. Continue straight on the path until you reach the paved road (ignoring side paths). (2.7 Km)

(2) Turn right (South) on this road (GM Ringway Stage 8) towards Chew Reservoir.

(3) At the Chew reservoir, turn left and continue a few meters along the dike before taking the path on the left that goes through the plateau. Continue on this trail for a long time (3.4 Km), crossing two small streams before you see a path on the left that goes down to the Dovestone Reservoir.

(4) Take this path that goes down to the reservoir and joining Oldham Way.

(5) Once on Oldham Way, turn right to walk on the dike between the two reservoirs. Then turn left to walk through the forest and by the shore of Dove Stone Reservoir.

(6) Once at the end of the reservoir, turn left (South) to walk back to the car park.(S/E)
