An easy walk that takes you around a pretty lake, and then overlooking it on the way up to the viewpoint via steps.

Description of the walk

Start: Park in the Diamond Lake Conservation Area car park off Wanaka Mount Aspiring Road.

(S/E) At the end of the car park, climb over the fence via the passageway, then follow the wide, winding path upwards.

(1) At the junction, turn left along the lake, offering a small access to it.

(2) At this second junction, turn left and climb the steps up to the viewpoint.

(3) Enjoy the view and return to the previous junction.

(2) Turn sharp left, finish the tour round the lake and rejoin the route already taken on the way in.

(1) Carry straight on and walk back to the car park using the same way. (S/E)

Start: Park in the Diamond Lake Conservation Area parking lot off Wanaka Mount Aspiring Road.

Alternative: A gentle hike that can even be reduced just by staying around the lake.
