Country:
Start at Shielmartin Road, accessible by bus (line 6) or car (a few parking spaces next to the bus stop).
Follow the path and turn left at the first fork.
Climb the hill and, once you reach the Bountiful Bench, turn right and go over the hump to descend back onto the coastal path.
Follow the coastal path to the narrow track between two properties leading up towards Thormanby Road.
Join Carrickbrack Road and turn right, heading up Old Carrickbrack Road.
At the top of the hill, turn right onto Windgate Road and, at the hairpin bend, take the path on the left marked with a red sign.
Go over the hill and head back down alongside the golf course.
Follow the boundary of Howth Golf Club and head up towards the summit of Shielmartin Hill.
Once at the top, head down the Bog of Frog Loop, cut across the Howth Golf Club and, once you’ve exited, turn immediately right to climb the ridge opposite Shielmartin Hill.
Follow the ridge until you reach the Howth Black Linn Loop and follow the markings to the finish at Howth station
