(S) Departure from Saint Jean-Pied-de-Port.
Exit via the Porte d'Espagne, heading south on theGR®65, Chemin de St Jacques, D301, for 100m. Turn right onto the D381, then left onto the D933 (altitude 192m), route d'Arneguy for 300m. Take care. Continue to the hamlet of Hegiluxenea.
(1) At the cross, take a path on the right, follow the Nive d'Arnéguy and cross it on the bridge on the left. Take the D403 on the left, which also follows theGR®10. Continue climbing, without leaving the road, until you reach Lasse.
(2) Cross the village straight ahead, leaving the D403 which branches off to the right. At Gorritxoenea (altitude 230m), turn left for 30m and then immediately take a path on the right. A few metres further on, at the fork, turn left and climb up to the hamlet of Fiteraenea. Pass a path on the right and at the next T-junction, turn right for 100m.
(3) At the crossroads, take the middle path opposite. Leave theGR®10and its markings. Pass Minhondoko Borda, ignoring a path on the left (altitude 299m). Head due north, slightly downhill. At the fork, turn right and pass the hamlets of Apheztegikoborda, Irigoineko Borda and Maldaxarreko Borda, ignoring various paths on the right and left. Arrive at the village of Anhaux.
(4) Cross it via the D515 and, at the exit, follow a path on the left (altitude 203 m). At the D15, turn left for a few metres and then right onto a path before the water treatment plant. Enter the village of Irouléguy.
(5) Turn right onto the main street and pass through the centre. At the exit, at the fork, go up to the left and continue to a crossroads.
(6) Turn left onto the D615 for a few metres and then immediately take the path on the right heading due west. Go straight up, passing a path on the left, then a trail on the right. At the fork on the descent, take the trail on the right. Cross a stream, then go straight ahead at the next crossroads along a path and cross the hamlet of Otikoren.
(7) Continue to the fish farm and pass it, turn left and cross the Nive des Aldudes.
(8) Turn right at the end of the bridge, cross the railway line and turn right onto the D948. Take care. At the end of the hamlet of Eiheralde, bear left (at an altitude of 136m). At the first fork, turn left, at the next fork turn right and cross the hamlet of Kaskoin Karrika.
(9) At the T-junction, turn left and at the fork at the end of the village, turn right. Cross the Urdoz stream. Continue straight ahead, heading north. Follow the Arbrakuko Erreka stream as closely as possible, on both sides and slightly uphill. Pass the localities of Hargaitzea, Haitzalde (altitude 167 m), Lamota and Motxa. Turn right at the fork, then left at the next fork in Zapatandegia (altitude 247 m) to pass Anbuloxiloa and Ustelegia and arrive at the Gastigarlepoa pass.
(10) At the three-way junction, turn left and at the next fork, turn right and descend a new valley along another stream. Pass Sastreaenborda, Galtzagorria (altitude 146 m) and the hamlet of Xuhurraenea. Continue descending to reach Bidarray, today's destination (E).
