The departure point is Rue du 8 mai 1945, in the car park near the Domaine des Hautanes.
(S/E) Follow Rue du 8 mai towards Chasselay until you reach a small roundabout and take the road on the left, Chemin de Marnay. This road quickly turns into a dirt track; follow it until you reach a fork. Take the dirt track on the right.
(1) In wet weather, horse riders make this section of the path impassable for pedestrians for about 100 metres. To avoid this area, climb up the embankment on the left to reach a path running parallel to the road. This joins the road in the right-hand bend just after the damaged section.
At the edge of the forest, the path joins a wider one that climbs along the edge of a field. Follow it uphill.
Shortly after the end of the field, continue straight ahead uphill. Ignore the small path that branches off to the right.
200 m further up, continue straight ahead, ignoring a first path on the right and the path that branches off to the left.
50 m further up, ignore the path that branches off to the right and continue straight ahead uphill.
The path becomes a trail and comes out onto a clearing at the edge of a pine forest. The trail runs along the edge of the forest before entering it. In the forest, the trail is fairly poorly marked and progress is hampered by numerous tree trunks that have fallen during various storms.
The path turns into a short, steep climb of a few dozen metres, which is slippery in wet weather, leading to the remains of a drying shed. A sign explains what a drying shed was.
(2) Turning right, you will come to the ruins of a hermitage. Signs describe the site. Cross it and take the path that follows the edge of a field and joins a stony track.
(3) In early autumn, it is worth turning right and walking about 200 metres to see a field full of colchicum flowers. The rest of the year, this little detour is of no particular interest.
After admiring the colchicum, retrace your steps to the previous crossroads.
(3) Continue straight ahead. Follow the path that passes between the fields and becomes paved shortly before a gate for cars. Continue to the intersection after the wash house.
(4) To get to Croix Rampeau, follow the road for about 200 metres, then take the path on the left.
In this area, weather permitting, you can enjoy a beautiful view of the Alps and Mont Blanc.
Ignore a small path on the left and the ruins of the Moulin de Poleymieux and take the path that branches off to the left after the ruins. Follow this path to the Croix Rampeau.
This site is also a paragliding launch site on the north-western side. There is an unobstructed view of the Saône plain and the Beaujolais region.
(5) After admiring the landscape, return in the same direction to the previous crossroads.
(4) To return, take the concrete path on the right that descends towards Saint-Germain-au-Mont-d'Or.
Shortly afterwards, you will see an old wash house with a spring flowing from the rock. Continue down this path, which runs alongside old quarries that are now overgrown or being filled in.
100 metres after leaving a dirt track on your left, in a right-hand bend, take the grassy track on the left that runs alongside a field and follow it for about 500 metres.
(6) Turn right onto the path that runs horizontally, crosses a small wood and joins a driveway leading to properties. Follow it until you reach Rue Louis Renardon.
Follow it to the left to reach Rue du 8 mai 1945 and the starting point (S/E).
