From Masevaux to Niederbruck via forest paths

Between Masevaux and Niederbruck, more than ten kilometres of new forest paths have recently been created. Here is a nice little route of about 6 km that partly follows these new paths...

Hike accessible via Niederbruck Centre station.

Description of the walk

From Masevaux, drive to Rue de Niederbruck and park at the bottom of the forest path (there is space for 5 or 6 cars).

(S/E) Take the forest path uphill on the left for just under 1.5 km. After heading generally west, at a fork, take the right-hand path and then head north.

(1) When you reach a large crossroads, take Chemin du Pont opposite to arrive at Pont du Glasbach about 1.5 km further on.

(2) After the bridge, continue north along the path to Place du Heidel;

(3). Then take the path that descends to the right of the Virgin Mary's oratory towards Niederbruck (yellow markings from the Club Vosgien).

(4) Just before arriving in Niederbruck, you will pass the water reservoir. The return to the starting point is through the village, going straight down to the centre.

(5) In front of the school, turn right onto Rue de Masevaux and continue along this street until you reach the edge of the village. Then walk along the Doller river and through the fields until you reach the starting point (about 1 km from the edge of the village) (S/E).

Notes

Unless you go up to the Bruckenwald farmhouse inn, there is no drinking water along the route: bring your own drinks!
For dogs, there is water at points (2), (4) and (5).
No special equipment is required, as the paths are wide and passable (traffic is prohibited), but they can be a little muddy in wet weather.
Option ( 3). From there, if you wish, you can take a small path to the left of the Virgin Mary's oratory to climb up to the Bruckenwald farmhouse inn.

The previous comments mention a difficult return journey on the road. This road is now traffic-calmed, i.e. closed to all traffic on Sundays and public holidays from 1 May to 1 November, with a speed limit of 30 km/h the rest of the time. It is therefore now pleasant to walk along it. As the first forest track is closed to all persons due to works, we first followed the road in question to take the first forest track that climbs up on the left and joined the route at point 1.

A lovely walk along a path through the woods. Be aware that the return journey is along the road. Not ideal

The route included a section on a busy tarmac road with lots of traffic. We would not have chosen this walk if we had known that beforehand.

A lovely walk with beautiful views of the church and the Virgin Mary of Niederbruck in places. The only slight downside is the return journey along the Doller on tarmac, which is also a narrow road.

A pleasant walk, but nothing more. In my opinion, the forest path is not particularly interesting and there are no outstanding views. However, there is a beautiful view from the Bruckenwald farmhouse inn (accessible from the Virgin Mary's chapel), but this makes the walk moderately difficult as it is 800 metres away and some sections are quite steep and probably too hard for younger or older people.

Hello! :greatGreat little hike, just what we needed for us and our little dog. We really enjoyed the cool morning air and the butterflies dancing around us. Of course, our dog loved the descent to Niederbruck with its beautiful houses decorated with lovely hydrangeas we even spotted and sang "It's a blue house leaning against the hill " but they hadn't thrown away the key The walk ended by following the Doller. Thank you sooooooo much, it was really lovely

A pleasant 2-hour walk. Steady, gentle uphill slope. Return via a slightly less attractive tarmac road.
