Park in the square in Lincou (12170), at the bottom of the village.
(S/E) Leave the car park and follow the left bank of the Tarn. After leaving the village, the path passes the gardens and continues upstream.
(1) As it becomes impossible to continue along the riverbank, the path climbs a few metres to the level of the D200, which it follows for 50 m, before descending back down to the water’s edge.
(2) Pass the hamlet of La Figarède, situated slightly above the path (the name La Figarède comes from figs), and arrive at the Girbes Bridge picnic area (tables, water tap, children’s play area, grassy ‘beach’).
(3) Walk alongside the picnic area, continuing in the same direction. Go under the Girbes bridge and take the concrete track opposite.
(4) After Le Pestel and the Ruisseau d'Artigues, the concrete track turns into a dirt track.
(5) Ignore the small path branching off to the right (we’ll return this way) and keep left on the track, which climbs gradually. Turn left once, then right a second time. After the two hairpin bends, the track overlooks the Tarn like a balcony, offering beautiful views of the valley.
(6) Ignore the path branching off to the right (private) and stay on the gently ascending track. Join the D143 at a water tower. Magnificent views of Brousse-le-Château, built on a rocky ridge, come into view.
(7) Follow the D143 to the right for 500 m until you reach the first hairpin bend.
(8) Take the steps on the left and head down into the village (these steps avoid walking on the road, which is dangerous at this point due to the two hairpin bends).
(9) At the statue of the Virgin Mary, turn right at the hairpin bend and go under the bridge.
(10) Join a small path running alongside the Tarn. Note the flood gauges for the Tarn and, further on, the marks and deposits left by these floods. Continue to follow the Tarn to the crossroads taken on the way out.
(5) Retrace your steps along the outward route to return to the Lincou car park (S/E).
