From Genolhac station to Alès station

An extreme and rugged mountain bike expedition along the GR®700 – originally designed for hiking – this route, which follows a section of the Chemin de Régordane, offers superb panoramic views as well as stops at the Château de Portes, the Mine Découverte, and more.
A true sporting expedition to explore the Cévennes, with its chestnut trees and streams (which can turn into torrents after a ‘cévenol’ downpour), and a journey through several traditional villages.

Notes

A route between two railway stations, with trains that can carry bikes.

Originally designed for walking, this route follows a section of the Chemin de Régordane and offers superb panoramic views, including a stop at Portes Castle (11) and the open-cast mine (17).

Please note: this route is intended exclusively for expert mountain bikers in peak physical condition. Expect rough terrain, fording streams, carrying or pushing your bike over rocks, steps and a few fallen trees to negotiate.

Most of the route is in the shade, which is ideal during the intense summer heat in the Gard.

(6), (14), with the option to refuel in the villages along the route (bars, restaurants, bakeries).

This route was completed on an e-MTB.
