From the Citadel of Langres to Dijon

This route, initially designed to connect to the Culmont-Chalindrey railway junction, has been extended to Dijon due to the cancellation of the train service! It crosses the mustard fields of the Côte-d'Or and the former sand pits of La Tille, which have been converted into ponds that are more popular with fishermen than tourists.

Notes

The route may need to be reworked for another trip, following the V53 variant of the "Voie Bleue" more closely.

(10) At the intersection of the Paris-Mulhouse and Nancy-Dijon lines, Culmont-Chalindrey has long been an important railway junction. It has seen a decline in traffic with the cancellation of the Metz-Marseille TGV route on the Nancy-Dijon section in 2014 (scheduled to be restored in 2029). Today (2025), there are TER and Intercités connections.

(17) The V53 route runs alongside the canal and follows the meanders of the Vingeanne to the Saône (Maxilly-sur-Saône).

(21) Picnic bench.

(E) The Lac Kir campsite is to the east, close to the station and therefore the town centre. It is open from early April to late October.

Worth a visit

(13) Via the D241, 4 km to the north (8 km round trip and two small climbs to cross the hill known as "La Champagne"), the hanging gardens of Cohons are an attractive stop on the V53 cycle route. Definitely an interesting alternative to the detour via Culmont-Chalindrey.

(15) The Vingeanne reservoir in Villegusien-le-Lac has a leisure centre that is popular in summer. Since 1997, it has also been the venue for the "Chien à plumes" music festival in early August.

(20) Less than 10 km away on the D27, you can visit the Château de Fontaine Française.
