Start from the car park for the beaches, just at the entrance to Galenda on the left before the roundabout. The walk follows the "Cami de Cavalls" and passes a viewpoint as well as beaches and restaurants.

Cala Mitjana

Description of the walk

1. Head towards Cala Mitjana along a wide path to the beach.

2. Take the steps on the right to join the "cami de cavalls" towards Cala de Galdana on the left.

3. Continue to the right.

4. Continue straight on to a viewpoint, then retrace your steps to take the road on the left.

5. Take the path on the right which descends via some steps.

6. Public toilets. Walk along the beach; at the harbour, keep left, cross the footbridge, and rejoin the cami de cavalls on the left.

7. On the left, take the wooden steps leading down.

8. Cala Macarella. Restaurant.

9. Cala Macarelleta, return without stairs.

This is a circular route on Menorca, which is quite rare. Starting from Cala Galdena, a charming seaside resort in the south of Menorca, you will discover some of the most beautiful beaches and coves on the island: Cala Mitjana, Cala Trebaluger and Binigaus Beach. It's hard to resist the turquoise waters and white sand beckoning you. For a change of pace, the return journey is via the famous Cami de Cavalls (GR® 223), an unmissable trail that circles the entire island. The entire route is on marked trails, so it's impossible to get lost.

For me, this hike is one of Menorca's must-dos. It crosses the s'Albufera des Grau Natural Park before joining the Cami de Cavalls (GR®223). The coastline and coves along the way to the Favaritx Lighthouse are magnificent. This is a round trip, so there is no need to go all the way to the lighthouse if you are tired, as you can see it in the distance from the coves.
