Parking at the Placelles beach car park. Maximum vehicle height 2 m.
(S/E) Reach the beach via the path at the back of the car park, then turn right. Follow the coast to the concrete slipway at Îleau. Leave the beach and follow the Îleau pass to the Route Touristique des Grands Coutas, named after the former shipwreckers.
(1) Opposite, slightly to the right, take Chemin des Petits Grands Champs (you couldn't make it up!). Follow the path to a place called La Cabane. Cross the small Route de la Giboire à la Menounière and continue to the village of La Fromagerie. Turn right, then cross the small square diagonally to take Rue du Puits. Turn right and pass in front of the Favre wine cellar.
(2) Cross Route de l'Îleau diagonally and follow the white/yellow markings along a path through the vineyards to the D734.
(3) Cross the busy road with caution (especially in summer) and take the first path on the right, Impasse des Moisettes.
(4) At the intersection, turn right onto the cycle path. Continue for about 400 m and take a path on the left, then turn right 500 m further on. Continue to the village of La Coindrie. Cross the village and join the D734 road at the Saint-Gilles crossroads.
(5) Cross the road at the pedestrian crossing on the right and pass in front of the Coulon wine cellar. Continue along the tarmac road until the next crossroads.
(6) Take the cycle path diagonally through the woods. At the next intersection with a small tarmac road, cross it diagonally to reach a small gravel forest road and follow it to the right. At the next intersection, turn right onto the small tarmac road for 200 m.
(7) Opposite the entrance to La Martière Holiday Camp, turn left onto the path through the woods. Continue around the old Goëlands Holiday Camp until you reach the first houses. At the first house, take a very narrow path on the right which joins a beautiful lane leading back to the Placettes car park (S/E).
