Departure from Fontainebleau-Avon station (Transilien R line).
(S/E:) From the station square, turn left (south) onto Rue du Viaduc, then take Rue Charles Meunier, Rue Bernard Palissy and Rue Antoine Cléricy (heading south-west). At the end of the last street, you will enter the grounds of the Château de Fontainebleau, where you follow the straight, majestic Allée Napoléon, which leads to the Pavillon Sully at the east entrance to the château.
(1) Without entering the gardens, turn left onto Rue des Cascades, which offers a beautiful view of the Grand Canal. Follow this street until it meets the D606 (formerly the N6), which you can cross safely thanks to the central reservation.
(2) After about 50 metres, cross the Route de Cheyssac and rejoin the Sentier Denecourt-Colinet No. 10, marked in blue. Take this path in the same direction as before (south-east). Discover the Rochers d'Avon on the marked path.
(3) You will come out onto the Route de la Percée. Leave the marked trail and turn right. Continue on this path, heading south-southeast, until you reach the D148 road.
(4) Cross the road and continue in the same direction on the Route de Fontainebleau à Montigny. Pass under the Aqueduc de la Vanne.
(5) Then cross the Routes de Valmy and du Rapport before crossing the Route Ronde.
(6) Continue south-east until you reach the Carrefour de la Malmontagne.
(7) Take thesecond road on the right, Route des Étroitures, which is quite densely vegetated and flourishing. Then, at the junction with Route des Ventes Héron, turn left (east) onto the latter, before turning right onto Route du Laricio.
(8) At the T-junction, turn left onto Route du Long Rocher. Pass a first crossroads and, at the next crossroads, turn right onto Route du Haut Mont. Climb a steep slope to reach the summit of the Long Rocher massif, the highest point of the route.
(9) At the junction with Route de Languedoc, Route du Haut Mont leads to a sandy crossroads where you turn left before finding Route du Croc-Marin 20 to 30 m further on, which branches off to the right (south-east, caution recommended).
(10) Follow this fairly long forest road for about 1.3 km, heading south-east. You will reach a tarmac road.
(11) Continue straight ahead on another small paved road and join theGR®13B(red and white markings).
(12) Follow theGR® on the right. This is the start of the last part of the hike, which combines field and wood edges with communal paths alongside some imposing residences.
(13) At the junction with the main road (Rue René Montgermont), turn left. Then take Avenue de la Gare on the right and turn left one last time to reach the station (E).
