By car, park in the car park at the bottom of the village, on the west side, on the road to Vera.
(S/E) Start on the other side of the road; signs indicating the start of the various routes will help you. Choose the direction: From pass to pass.
Walk along the road for 10 minutes, then turn left onto a dirt track marked with yellow signs, which climbs quite steeply. After 700 metres, the track reaches a small plateau with wooden sheepfolds opposite and a magnificent stone house on the right, which we will see better further up. From there, climb up to the left along this path, which after 10 minutes passes in front of a water collector.
(1) Continue north-west on the main path, ignoring the paths branching off to the right and left. You will arrive at a grassy plateau from where you can see, to the north, the Nivelle river flowing into the bay of Saint-Jean-de-Luz.
(2) Continue along the path that climbs upwards, keeping the Rhune antennas in your sights. Ten minutes later, before reaching the railway line, turn left, then right, heading southwest, and join the GR®10.
>Walking along the railway line is strictly prohibited, at least during the period when trains are running.
(3) Follow it to the right, north-west, and arrive at the pass with several directions very close to the railway line.
(4) Just before the railway line climbs towards the summit, turn left onto the path (south), initially following the power line. You will reach the Col d'Athkalum (where you will see a mixture of puddingstone and flat, sloping rocks).
(5) Descend the path heading south and arrive at a large crossroads.
(6) Continue straight ahead, passing a stone sheepfold and crossing a stream.
(7) At the fork, turn right and then left 100 metres further on. A few minutes later, you will reach a gap, which is an ideal spot for a break.
(8) Continue downhill to reach Sare. At the foot of the mountain, you will find the old Olhain Chapel.
(9) Turn left (north). At the fork, leave the wide path and take a narrower path on the right. You will come to a wide track which you should follow to the right until you reach the road.
(10) Follow the road to the right for about 350 metres, then leave it on the left and take a stony path. Back on the tarmac, turn right and continue to the D406.
(11) Follow this road straight ahead to the car park (S/E).
