The walk starts from the Quai Vérandy car park in Carro, a small fishing port in the municipality of Martigues.
(S/E) Take the coastal path towards the north-west.
(1) After 600 metres, turn right and walk along a car park to take a road heading north-east to join a track.
(2) Turn left and take the track.
(3) Continue straight ahead on this path and ignore any turnings on the right or left, following the map.
(4) Stay on the path, which is circular and loops to the right.
(5) Turn left. After 350 metres, the path makes a circular turn to the left and after 200 metres crosses a bridge over a railway line. Continue for 400 metres to reach the tarmac Chemin de la Marrane.
(6) Follow it to the right.
(7) After 400 m, leave the road straight ahead and turn left at the end of this path.
(8) After 100 metres, turn right onto a clearly visible path. You will arrive in a pleasant little valley called Les Auffans, with a stone quarry further on (many monuments in the region were built with these stones) and the remains of unidentified buildings. Continue for 600 metres until you reach a crossroads.
(9) Turn left and go up the track. Note the old restored mill at this crossroads, clearly visible to the south. This track leads to the military remains of part of the "Wall of the Mediterranean", which can be seen on either side of it. Enjoy the view over the Gulf of Fos and the Bay of Marseille. Continue for 2 km.
(10) Turn right onto a well-marked path. You will come to a road. Turn left and go through a long tunnel.
(11) Turn right and continue to a small, well-equipped beach (where you can have a picnic).
(12) Walk slowly southwards along the coastline and enjoy the views of the bay. First you will see Les Laurons, an ancient Roman port, then the cove of Bonnieu, before arriving at the plain of the same name. Along the way, information boards about the history and nature of the area will enhance your walk. Walk for 2 km to reach the Bonnieu plain.
(13) Then follow the discovery trail on the left. Note that there is a beach and an area reserved for naturists here. A little further on, the discovery trail turns into a botanical trail. Continue for a little over 2 km, enjoying the seaside atmosphere. Return to the initial fork in the road that you passed on the way there.
(1) Continue opposite, following the same route as on the way there, and return to the car park (S/E).
