Description of the walk

Start : Barnes car park in Glenelly. Junction C611 and C612. (CT9 5DX)

(S/E) Start from Barnes car park in Glenelly and follow the finger post across the road C611.

(1) Taking the second road on the right (South) and proceeding uphill.

(2) At the next t-junction, after 300m, turn right (South-West), walk along C611 leading to the top of the Gap (around 600 m).

(3) Just over the brow of the hill a left turn (South-East) that leads to a track that contours Mullaghbolig. Continue on this track and descend into the Owenkillew Valley via a farmyard below Vinegar Hill (around 3.9 Km).

(4) From the farmyard turn right (South-West) on C612 towards Scotch Town then follow the marker going right uphill for about 1 Km.

(5) On meeting the Magherabrack Road turn right again (North). Walk for around 1.2 Km to another junction (Gorticashel Road) where you turn right. Then walk for a short distance towards the marker that points left to a track contouring Mullaghbane.

(6) Turn sharp left and continuing on this track, you will cross a Moto park on your left. Walk until you reach Meenadoo Road.

(7) Once you have reached Meenadoo Road, stay on the right straight ahead. Keep walking on the same road until you reach a Junction with Trinamadan Road. (around 3.9 Km)

(8) Turn right (North-East) in it. This track climbs Craignamaddy Hill and gives magnicent views of the Owenkillew Valley and Glenelly. The 1.5 Km descent from the crest leads down to Glenelly and the Landahussy Road.

(9) Turn right (East) at the marker post. Follow the markers ahead for another 2.5 Km to finish the circuit at Barnes. (S/E)
