The Cirque des Walkyries via the Homme Mort plateau and the Col de Cortiou
Please note: on 30 September 2025, I was informed that the trail leading to the Pas supérieur de la Melette is now closed, and I do not know for how long.
Short but physically demanding, this hike through the Marseilleveyre massif takes us to the Plateau de l'Homme Mort, then to the Col de Cortiou, before climbing the impressive Cirque des Walkyries. There are no exposed sections, but there is a small vertical passage equipped with a rope (Pas supérieur de la Melette) at the end of the climb up the Cirque des Walkyries, where you will need to use your hands to help you. Not recommended for those who are afraid of heights. The magnificent sea view accompanies us for much of the walk.

Podestat cove and Marseilleveyre summit
A beautiful circular starting from Les Baumettes. You pass through the Calanque de Podestat, then reach the summit of Marseillveyre via the Grand Mavallon and the curious Trois Arches. The return journey is via the Plateau de l'Homme Mort. Along the way, you can admire the view of the coast and the Phocaean city. There is a slight elevation gain and a few slightly technical passages, but no real major difficulties.
