Ogbourne St George to Avebury, The Ridgeway the Other Way
The Ridgeway the other way. The National Trail from NE to SW. The Stage 6 is a short walk as you will probably have to continue a bit further to get a place to stay and maybe head to Swindon or Trowbridge for onward travel. The countryside is a mixture of arable land, changing colour with the seasons, and areas of sheep or cattle grazed grassland. Some of the best views are from Smeathe’s Ridge as you climb gently up to Barbury Castle.
Avebury, West Kennett and Silbury Hill
This Wiltshire walk provides a way of visiting many of the interesting World Heritage Neolithic sites around the village of Avebury including the Stone Circle, Silbury Hill and West Kennett Long Barrow.
Hackpen Hill and Overton Down from Avebury

The North Wessex Downs provides some good walking terrain and this extended route from Avebury takes you onto the downs to follow a section of the Ridgeway.

Starting from Postern Hill Car Park this circular route explore much of the beautiful forest including several of the named oaks and the arboretum.
The Ridgeway, Waylands Smithy and Uffington Castle from Ashdown House
This walk combines one of the best sections of the Ridgeway and the start of the Lambourn Valley Way with visits to two ancient monuments. It is easy walking; the paths are either well-made or on well-drained chalk downland.
Ashdown House circular via White Horse and Berkshire Border
This circular walk starts from Ashdown House. On the way you will be able to enjoy the White Horse Hill and Alfred’s Castle then spectacular views of the Vale of the White Horse.
The Red Lion, Axford
This circular walk brings you to visit Axford area along River Kennet.
Uffington White Horse and Wayland's Smithy

This short walk on the North Wessex Downs offers wonderful and the chance to explore some fine ancient monuments including the Uffungton White Horse, Uffington Castle and Wayland's Smithy Long Barrow.
