Description

(S/E) Start at the car park at the side of the Maypole. Turn right and walk down High Street passing the Shoulder of Mutton Pub on your left hand side. Continue past Highfield School on your left and along Gawthorpe Lane as far as the lane to Lower Park Farm on your left.

(1) Look for a fingerpost about 10m further on to the right. Follow the sign across a small wooden bridge, downhill, over a stream, then upwards, over a small bridge with handrail beneath the power lines.

(2) Climb over the stile and aim for the second power lines walking straight across the field. Follow the line of the overhead power lines up a moderate gradient to the next hedge line and turn right. Follow the path with the hedge on your left until you reach an opening in the hedge.

(3) Continue forward with the hedge on your right until you encounter a metal kissing gate close to the Ossett Bypass. Go through the gate and turn right onto a tarmac path which leads into a housing estate.

(4) At the fork, turn right then left into the housing estate. Walk to the end of houses and turn left onto the High Street and return to the car park.(S/E)
