Circuit of the Canal du Mignon starting from La Névoire

This is an easy walk between the Canal du Mignon and the marshes. Wear good walking or hiking shoes as, depending on the season and how well the banks are maintained, you may encounter tall grass in places or muddy paths.

Description of the walk

Start from Chemin des Vallées.

(S/E) Head south, i.e. away from the village.

(1) Turn right onto Chemin de l'Ancienne Voie (white path that replaces the old railway line that linked Ferrières to Pont d'Epannes).

(2) Just before the bridge over the Canal du Mignon, turn left and follow the canal on your right for about 1.3 km.

(3) Turn left onto the road that runs alongside the Marais Marot.

(4) At the end of this road, turn right. After about 100 metres, turn left. Cross a small bridge and you will arrive at the hamlet of La Gaie Fondue.

(5) Turn left between the fields. Further on, turn right onto the main road.

(1) At the crossroads, go straight ahead to immediately return to the starting point (S/E).

Very busy route : No

The path between points 3 and 4 is impassable (grass over 1.5 metres high), which forced me to continue to the bridge on the road and then take a path on the left to reach point 4. Otherwise, an interesting hike. Worth doing.
