Description of the walk

Park in the car park opposite the town hall.

(S/E) From the car park, go up the small flight of steps and turn left onto the D258 towards Panjas.

(1) At the next junction, just after the house in Pincemaille, take the track on the left. This turns right and becomes a tarmac road.

(2) Cross the D258 diagonally and take the track which climbs at first, then descends between fields, copses and vineyards to join a tarmac road.

(3) Turn left and head up towards Haymon Farm. Pass the farm and continue straight on along the grey-black gravel track as it climbs. Cross a copse and pass a white water tower.

(4) At the junction with the D258, turn left onto the tarmac road and, almost immediately, right in front of a silo. Continue along this track for 3km and enjoy the superb views of the Pyrenees.

(5) Cross the D109 and follow the track opposite leading into the forest. Ignore the path on the right and continue straight on through the communal forest. Pass the Maison des Capots on your right and continue along the path which leads to a tarmac road.

(6) Turn left and head up towards the Halabert house. Go past this house and continue to the junction with the D109.

(7) Turn right to return to your starting point (S/E).

Done in glorious weather. Very peaceful and without any difficulty. Undeniably, the most beautiful part is between points 3 and 4, with a magnificent view of the Pyrenees (still snow-capped) above the vineyards. Ideal for a lunch break and a quick nap.
Between points 4 and 5, you walk along a small road where I didn’t encounter any traffic (though that’s not my preference). I much prefer the forest section from point 5 onwards, where you can hear the birds in the trees.
It can also be easily done by bike.
I’m not sure how busy it is with hikers, but these are wide, well-maintained farm tracks.
In terms of walking time, I did it in about 2 hours 20 minutes without the breaks, compared to the 3 hours 15 minutes indicated.
A lovely, relaxing break...

Hello Christian,
Thank you for your message.
You’re absolutely right.
I’ve recalculated the elevation gain and, based on that, the duration has been reduced to 3 hours 10 minutes

Happy hiking

A lovely walk, certainly, and an easy one... but it took 2 hours 30 minutes, not 4 hours 55 minutes as stated, which is about right for 10.5 km... and there wasn’t an 800-metre climb as indicated...we’re not in the Pyrenees... or perhaps the GPS was set to ‘English feet’...!!!! I’d suggest a total elevation gain of around 250 m instead...
Besides, it seems logical to me that when the start and finish are in the same place, the positive and negative elevation gains should be identical....!!!!!
Happy hiking.....
