Description of the walk

Coming from the D999, take the D37 at the junction and park at the side of this road just before the hamlet of Blanquet.

(S/E) Facing the hamlet, take the path on the right to reach Puylauron, whose charming little church is visible.

(1) Take the tarmac road on the left, passing through the hamlet of Rangouse before reaching La Bousquinière.

(2) Head down to the left to a small stream, then walk alongside a small pond.

(3) Turn right, then head back up to the left onto a tarmac path. Follow this path to the right for about 200m.

(4) Turn left onto the path, which is still signpostedPR® (yellow dashes). You’ll reach a tarmac road.

(5) Turn left onto it. Pass through the hamlets of Ourtala and then Combe Gaillarde.

(6) About fifty metres before the junction with the access road to Le Bosquet, take the path on the right into the small wood to quickly rejoin the road. Continue to the Tournié campsite (a stopover lodge with charming wooden lodges).

(7) Take the path on the left (not shown on the IGN map), then cross the little stream known as the Hirondelle and head back up to the starting car park (S/E).

This is the first time we’ve done this.
Grass up to our waists, markings missing two-thirds of the way round the route, and the description was too brief and poorly written.

Hello, first of all, thank you for this route – a simple route suitable for families
A few details

  • Starting point.

100m along the D37 coming from the D999 (after House 3403 and the oak grove). DO NOT GO to VARRENES ;-)

  • Km 1: after passing the chapel at PUYLAURON, there’s a fairly long stretch (+/- 400m on the D37) – the only section on a D-class road, but it’s very quiet.
  • Km 4: follow the yellow markings instead of the GPS route (transferred to my Garmin); the markings run alongside the sunflower field (August 2021) and avoid some stinging nettles

Thanks

S/E: Park after the second house on the right; the hamlet known as ‘Blanquet’ is signposted further up. The start of the footpath is on the edge of the woods.
The place names have been replaced by numbers along the road (D 37).
You may wish to continue on to the village of VARENNES and then head to point 4 on the map.
Beautiful scenery over the Tescou valley.

The route of this circular route has been altered towards the end; there is a sign in the village (Varennes)

I did indeed look into the Varennes route, but it was too late, so we went on
the ‘Two Steeples’ walk, starting from Cepet
Very easy, well signposted, lovely countryside.
I only discovered your website yesterday. It’s very well put together. It features quite a few walks that we’ve already done over the last 30 or 40 years.
Well done!... and thank you.

We’ll be doing the Varennes route in the next few days.
