Easy parking in front of the Town Hall of Saint-Danis-en-Bugey (or behind it if there is no space).
S/E: Head towards the centre of Saint-Denis, passing in front of the restaurant and leaving Bettan on your left, then take the first alley on the left. The alley passes under a house and just after, take a small staircase to reach the bridge that crosses the railway line and the Buizin. Continue left on Chemin de la Tour and you will soon reach the start of a path on the right.
(1) Follow this path, known as Chemin des Vignes. Walk along this almost flat path to reach the village of Ambutrix, notable for its bell tower covered with glazed tiles and its beautiful, well-restored houses.
(2) Cross the village, passing in front of the church, until you reach the top of Montée de Carrouge. Continue slightly to the left and take Chemin de Buya. Stay on this path until you reach the bottom. This path is tarmac but very quiet. At the bottom of the descent, the path rejoins the Buizin, which is crossed by a footbridge. Do not cross.
Continue along the tarmac path, which also crosses the Buizin.
Continue straight ahead on the dirt track that runs alongside the stream until you reach the departmental road at the entrance to Vaux-en-Bugey.
(3) Continue along Rue de la Ruaz until you reach the crossroads at the edge of the village.
(4) Turn left for a few metres, then, at the last houses, turn left onto the small tarmac road that climbs through the vineyards, where it becomes a dirt track. Then join theGR®59.
(5) Take it on the left and continue along it until you reach the Croix Balthazar crossroads.
(6) Turn right and walk for about ten metres, then take the widePR® marked in yellow on the left to the square tower of Saint-Denis.
(7) Go around it and return to the initial crossroads you passed on the way there.
(1) Turn right and retrace your steps to return to the car park at Saint-Denis Town Hall (S/E).
