Chapels of Thèdes and Berzet

In Boisséjour, park in the small hiker's car park in the hamlet of Préguille: from Avenue de Royat, at the village of Boisséjour but on the east side, at a crossroads with traffic lights, turn onto Rue Pierre Curie then cross the bridge over the Artière, with the sign "la Hameau de Préguille" and you will immediately find the small car park, small park and electrical cabinet for the housing estate.

(S/E) With your back to the road leading to the car park, head into the housing estate, towards the south, following a path that starts to the left of the electrical cabinet. At the end of the housing estate, cross the road that curves to the right, take the path opposite, then turn onto the first path that goes up to the right, just after a house.

(1) At the first intersection further up, turn right. Pass over a beautiful rock formation, the Rocher de Gargantua, before arriving at a wide path.

(2) Walk a few metres to the right, then turn onto the path that climbs to the left.

(3) Further up, at the intersection with a path, turn right and head towards the hamlet of Champeaux Bas. When you reach a street, continue to the left and follow the street as it curves to the left.

(4) Take the first path on the right, which initially passes in front of a large farm building (with a beautiful large wooden door). Continue along this path, which later runs alongside the Charade motor route, until you reach a large open space and a junction with another path, arriving at Thèdes. Hiking signpost.

(5) Ignore the path on the left for now and join the street. Immediately climb up the lawn opposite to go around the circular chapel. Information panel. Go back down the stairs on the other side. Once back on the road, you can go and see the fountain on the left. Then return to the intersection of the paths you passed on your way here.

(5) Turn right and follow the signs for Berzet. Continue along this beautiful path until you reach a farm and the end of the road in Berzet. Continue straight ahead along the road until you reach the main road at a bus shelter.

(6) Walk a few metres to the left, then turn right onto the lawn to reach the chapel. Playground and picnic area. Head towards the picnic table below and join a street at the stone hut next to the drinking troughs. Cross over to Rue Saint-Georges, passing to the left of the glass recycling bin. Continue until you reach Route de Ceyrat.

(7) Cross the road and turn left. After about 300 metres, follow the street to the right.

(8) At the fork in the road, turn right. The street gives way to a path that becomes a trail. Further on, at the intersection of trails, keep left. Continue until you reach a road.

(9) Cross it carefully and take the path opposite, between the safety rails, which descends via rough steps. Continue along this path, which remains below the road, until you reach a track. Turn sharply right and descend to join a wide track.

(10) Follow it to the left, passing close to the water catchment. Continue for about 1.3 km, ignoring two paths on the right and passing a stream, then turn right onto a path to quickly reach the intersection you passed at the start of the hike.

(1) Turn right and follow the route you took on the way there in reverse to return to the car park (S/E).

Hike of moderate difficulty, leaning towards easy. Standard hiking equipment required.
