Description of the walk

Start: Kurnell Visitor Centre car park, Kamay Botany Bay National Park

(S/E) From the car park, walk past the toilets on your left-hand side to walk across the grass to reach Captain Cook Memorial Obelisk and landing point. After enjoying the view, as there is some construction on the jetty, walk back up to reach Burrawang Walk. Turn left to walk along the path into the trees.

(1) As the path is going to curve right, find a tiny footpath into the woods left going downhill. You normally won't miss it as a speaker is giving some information on your left. Walk downhill to reach the former Monument Track which is a paved path that gives access to the beach.

(2) Turn right and keep walking along the coastline until you reach Whales Sculptures.

(3) This is a nice viewpoint to explore where you can see the sandstone cliffs. If it is low tide, walk safely along the rocks to carry on reading from waypoint (4)

If the tide is high or it is slippery, walk around the wooded area on your left-hand side to reach a car park. Walk across the car park and as you reach its entrance, turn left to get to the main Cape Solander Drive. Turn left here walking safely along the pavement until you find steps going down on your left-hand side.

(4) Turn left here, the stairs bring you to the beach and a nice walk under the sandstone cliff. Here is the point where you could have joined from the Whales Statues if it was low tide. After enjoying, walk back up the steps and as you reach the road safely cross over. Walk right a few meters to find a hidden footpath left going up into the woodland. Follow the single track uphill until you reach a path junction with a wider path.

(5) Turn right and walk downhill to reach Cape Solander Drive again. Turn left along the road and you will soon get back to the road junction where you drive in. Turn right to get back to your car. (S/E)
