Start: Start from Canford Road. This is a short distance from the Bus stops in Westbury on Trym and there is plenty of on street parking. Grid ref. ST 567 774
(S/E) Cross Canford Lane with the Canford Park gate behind you. You will see a footpath that runs up the right hand side of the Golf course (North), there is a stream to your right. Follow this path to the top. At the top of the golf course footpath, cross Henbury Road (B40 55) to the pavement on the other side and turn left up the hill.
(1) Then after 200m or so, turn left into the Golf course entrance, but straight after the two house on your right take the footpath off the drive to the right.
You will soon be on the end of the golf course, keep right, hugging the hedge. After 200m ish, you will come to a new kissing gate on the right into the woods. Go through this and then turn left along the path inside the woods keeping the golf course close on your left.
Eventually on your left you will see a gap in the broken wall that has not been blocked up and there is a path through it, to be honest, as long as you stay high and with the golf course fairly close on your left it does not really matter which of the small paths you take they all join up. At one point you will see a broken wall with 'Mr Bump' painted on it. Keep that on your right until there is a gap which you need to take to go around a fallen tree.
At the end of the golf course you will take a sharp left around the corner of a broken boundary wall. Follow the path until you come to the point where there are 3 options.
(2) Take the middle one down hill until you nearly hit the edge of the woods, turn left above the fence line of the Cherry Orchards field (now on your right).
When you hit the path coming down from the Golf course turn right down hill along a tight path with the Cherry Orchards field still on your right and a high hedge on your left
(3) When you hit the drive to Cherry Orchards take it down hill around some tight bends.
At the bottom of the hill take the path to your left through a kissing gate into a field that often has livestock from the school in it. Follow the path through a broken style onto the bottom of the golf course. Cross the stream and then follow the clear path that runs just below the tree line on your left.
About half way along the golf course you will see the path going uphill through the hedge to the next fairway, take this.
(4) Then turn right, you now follow the top edge of the same tree line you were below before.
(5) At the end of the trees, carefully cross the fairway (checking to the right to see if there is anyone on the green below you) to a kissing gate. Go through this and turn right. You are back on the footpath you started on and very close to Canford Lane. (S/E)
