Description of the walk

At the roundabout by the Leclerc shopping centre in Sormiou, turn right onto Boulevard Louis Pierotti and park near the park

(S/E). Continue to the end of the boulevard and go through the barrier.
Follow the red trail straight ahead through the woodland leading to the Fontaine de Voire, then take the small path to the right of the fountain up to the top of the steps.

(1) Turn left onto the brown trail to begin the ascent. This trail skirts the Trois Pics, offering views of Marseille and the Luminy hills.

(2) At the junction, at the foot of the Tête de l’Homme, leave the Brown trail and turn right onto the Yellow trail. Continue the ascent, cross the ridge and descend into the valley.

(3) At the junction with the Green trail, turn left onto it to reach the Plateau de l’Homme Mort.
Descend towards the Calanque de Marseilleveyre. At the junction, follow the Green trail straight ahead, which descends southwards into Malvallon (easy scree) to the junction with Grand Malvallon.

(4) Turn right to head back up towards the Col de la Selle, passing close to the Fontaine de Brès.

(5) At the junction with the Yellow trail (barely visible), turn left onto it and continue towards a ridge.

(6) Head down to the left just before the ridge to rejoin the Grand Malvallon. At the next junction,
turn right to reach the Calanque de Marseilleveyre.

(7) Turn right and follow theGR®98(marked in white and red) westwards to the Calanque de la Mounine.

(8) Turn right into the valley of the same name. At the bottom of the valley, follow the ‘Trace Verte’ to the right and begin the ascent, keeping your bearings towards the summit. Caution: This section is not only the least well-marked part of the route, but also the most technical. A good understanding of the trails is essential.
The Green trail ends just before a secured section (a ramp and steps carved into the rock).

(9) At the crossroads, keep heading north, leaving the Tête de la Mounine on your right. Turn right at the next junction and reach a rock face.

(10) Climb up it for 3–4 metres. Continue until you reach the junction with a Red-marked trail.

(11) Turn right and follow the red trail to the summit, which is marked by a ruined building.

(12) To descend, follow the red trail northwards – which joins the blue and yellow trails at the start – until you reach the fork towards Campagne Pastre.

(13) Turn right and keep right at the following junctions to return to the crossroads you passed on the way up.

(1) Turn left and return to the starting point via the same route as at the start of the walk (S/E).

A lovely walk!
Note: there aren’t many flat sections.
No loose scree
Two tricky sections involving a bit of scrambling, but with a handrail to hold on to.
Stunning views!

The description would benefit from referring to the coloured markings found along the route. For example, from point 1 to point 4, you can follow the yellow markings, and so on with blue, red and black.
The section along the coast is of little interest compared to other coastal routes in the area.
I am a seasoned walker but not a ‘climber’. I found the section between points 8 and 9 difficult and dangerous for people unaccustomed to short climbing sections. For the first section, the handrail that is supposed to help is half-detached and does not inspire confidence. For the second section, I almost turned back halfway up the small, unprotected, very vertical rock face, which is higher than the 3–4 metres indicated.

I’d say it’s worth doing again, but mainly because it was hot

Have a great hike, everyone
