An easy circular route that takes you round the south-eastern tip of the Île d’Yeu, passing by Plage des Vieilles, the end of the wild coast at Pointe des Corbeaux and the dune heathland, whilst crossing through the forest and a few small hamlets.

Description of the walk

Starts from the hamlet of Les Nates, where you can leave your bikes.

(S/E) Take the track heading due west behind the electricity substation.

(1) At the first junction, follow the path off to the left; after 400 metres, this joins a small road leading to the hamlet of La Croix.

(2) Turn right, cross the departmental road to reach Plage des Vieilles.

(3) Continue along the coast to the left on the GRP® Tour de l’Île d’Yeu trail, following it as far as Pointe des Corbeaux and its lighthouse.

(4) Complete the walk around the headland and continue to follow the GRP® along Plage de la Grande Conche, then Plage des Ovaires, which face the mainland.

(5) Just before reaching La Petite Conche, take a path branching off to the left, which leads to a small road.

(6) Turn left, then take the path on the right which serves as a shortcut before rejoining the road. Turn right to return to the hamlet of Les Nates (S/E).

A wooded countryside dotted with villas gives way to a rather wild coastline where golden sandy coves alternate with rocky headlands.
