Circular route in Stenshuvud National Park

Let yourself be enchanted by the magic of Österlen on this superb circular walk in the heart of Stenshuvud National Park. This exceptional route invites you to traverse a mosaic of striking landscapes, alternating between dense woodland, a sandy shoreline and a wild rocky coast dominated by its historic lighthouse. Your walk will then take you to the three peaks of this crystalline massif, where the remains of an Iron Age fortress and the legends of the giant Sten blend with a magnificent panorama of the Baltic Sea.

2nd summit

Description of the walk

Park in the western car park of Stenshuvud National Park.

Red markings

(S/E) Take the path starting to the left of the Naturum. Head straight up (north-north-east). Then head east-north-east and you will soon reach a junction on the first hilltop.

(1) Head straight on to immediately reach a superb viewpoint over the Baltic Sea. Retrace your steps back to the previous junction.

(1) Turn right (north-west) and you’ll soon reach a junction.

(2) Turn right and follow a circular route to climb to the summit of Stenshuvud.

(3) Turn left (south-southeast) to head back down to the original junction.

(2) Turn right (south-west) and immediately reach the top of a flight of steps.

White markings

(4) Go down the steps on the right.

(5) At the T-junction at the bottom, take the path on the right towards Hällevik.

(6) As you approach the park’s north car park, turn right. After about a hundred metres, turn right again. At the Fork in the road that appears shortly afterwards, veer right.

(7) At the next junction, veer right. Walk for a long time south-southeast, keeping the sea on your left. You will reach a beach.

(8) Continue south and, after about a hundred metres, turn right. Go straight on (west) to the starting car park (S/E).
