Circular walk around Nescher and Sauvagnat-Sainte-Marthe

From Issoire, take the D996 towards Perrier, then towards Champeix.
4 km before Champeix, turn right onto the D3 towards Neschers.
At the entrance to the village, park near the village hall.

Signposting: Varies or none, depending on the section. (Blue, Yellow/Red)

(S/E) Head towards the village via Rue de Campeix, then turn left onto Rue de Noyers, towards the fishing area. Follow the road until you reach the path on the left which leads down to the river.

(1) At the bridge, walk alongside the river, the Couze Chambon, on your right; continue along Rue du Theil and pass under the bridge.

(2) At the end of the residential area, take the road on the right, Chemin des Meuniers, which leads to Chemin des Vergers.

(3) Follow this road, which curves to the left and joins the D229.

(4) Cross the road carefully, taking a right then a left, and head towards a wooded area; go through it and continue on to join Chemin du Lavoir on the ridge.

(5) Turn left onto this path, which joins Rue de la Vieille Fontaine in Chadeleuf; follow it to the right.
Ignore the first street on the left and turn left into the lane leading to Rue du Gros.
Follow it to the left and, at the bend, take the path opposite which leads to the D23.

(6) Cross it carefully, take the path opposite; at the junction with another path, turn left. After 50 m, at the Fork in the road, turn right and continue for about 500 m

(7) Leave the^GR® which branches off to the left and carry on straight ahead. Join a road and follow it to a junction.

(8) Leave this road and take the path on the right to join the^GR®300trail.

(9) Turn right, heading due south, and carry on towards Sauvagnat-Sainte-Marthe.

(10) At the entrance to the village, turn right onto Rue de la Conche, cross the D172 with care, and walk along the back of the stadium.

(11) Just past the stadium, take the first path on the left, walk past the horse paddocks (Champ Blanc) and continue for about 800 m until you reach a path on the left.

(12) Take this path and rejoin the^GR®300.

(13) Follow it to the right until you reach the D23.

(14) Cross with care and carry on straight ahead, towards the hamlet of Pignat.

(15) Take the path on the right, towards the village of Nescher, and you’ll come out onto the D229.

(16) Cross it carefully, take the street opposite, slightly to the left, which winds its way down through the village and joins the Chemin des Vergers, which you have already passed.

(3) Turn left onto Rue du Martelet, then, opposite, onto Rue Charles Roucher, and, after 800 m, you’ll arrive at the car park (S/E).
