Description of the route

The departure point is from the car park located on the forest path at a place called "Barraque haute" on the D38 (Giroussens-Parisot).

(S/E) Take the forest road to the first crossroads.

(1) Turn left and head towards the model aircraft runway.

(2) At the model aircraft runway, turn right and follow the forest road until you reach a barrier.

(3) Go around it and read the hunting regulations on the sign. Continue to the next junction.

(4) Turn right and continue along the path, downhill towards the hunting lodge.

(5) Go under the barrier, then past the hunting lodge and take the road on the right that runs alongside the A68 motorway. At the next junction, turn right onto the D19 until you reach the first forest track on the right.

(6) Leave the tarmac and follow the path slightly downhill towards the stream, then uphill to the edge of the forest at Les Bruges. Take the path, then the tarmac road and return to the D19. Turn right, then at the three-way junction, keep right, taking Route de Barrial.

(7) At Rue du Castanhier, take the footpath on the left of the road, cross the playground, then follow the D87 on the footpath. Pass Rue du Piboul and take Chemin de Gravillou on the right and follow it to the end.

(8) Turn left and, at the water tanks, turn right towards Vayssié. Pass the hamlet, then continue along a path to the end of Chemin de la Brogne (slight incline). Walk a few metres to the right and you will arrive at the Sentier de Sécouverte de Giroussens on the left.

Yellow Y markings on a black background on wooden signposts bearing the Giroussens municipallogo.

(9) Follow this path and, after a pleasant descent, you will reach the tarmac road. Turn right, pass through the hamlet of Prat Pastat and you will arrive at a crossroads.

(10) Cross the road and take the path opposite. At the crossroads, turn left, then right. At the tarmac road, turn left and take the first path on the right.

(11) Take this path and follow it straight ahead. At the road, continue straight ahead, then continue along the path at the level of the Selve houses.

(12) At the D87, follow it to the left for about 100 metres and turn right onto Chemin des Jeantounnets , taking care. At the next junction, turn right, continue along the path and join the end of Chemin de Tire Vire.

(13) Continue left, then take Chemin de la Manou on the right. At the three-way junction, near the residential area, keep right onto Côte du Tigou and, at the four-way intersection, turn right again to reach the end of Impasse de la Planète.

(14) Turn left onto Route des Crêtes, pass under the road bridge and continue to the end. Continue to the right and reach Place de la Mairie to admire the view.

(15) Pass in front of the town hall, turn right onto Rue du Pont Saint-Salvi and pass in front of the Centre de la Céramique Contemporaine and the castle. Continue on the D38 then quickly turn left onto Route de la Forêt. Pass under the road bridge and continue straight ahead until you reach a crossroads at the top of the hill.

(16) Turn left onto Chemin des Communaux, walk past the old football stadium, then take the path towards the forest (passage between blocks and stones that restrict access to motor vehicles). Walk down to No. 1518 in Pelforte and turn right onto the grassy path towards the forest.

(17) Cross the stream and the tree trunk and take the forest path on the right, then the one on the left (uphill) and rejoin the route you took on the way there.

(4) Turn right and follow the forest track in the opposite direction to the outward journey.

(3) At the barrier, turn left, cross the stream, then turn right onto the forest track. Follow it straight ahead to Barraque Haute (S/E).

I know them because I live not far from Giroussens, which is why I took a closer look at your route when I received the weekly email this morning.

Yes. A mountain bike ride.
It can also be done on foot.
There are other hikes in Giroussens that I invite you to discover.

That explains it! It was included in this week's new hiking email – hence the confusion.

Hello christarn

At an average group hiking speed of 4 km/hr, it would take at least 7 hours to cover 28 km. Something doesn't add up.

See the author's previous reply => it's a mountain bike ride!

The Visorando app estimates the hiking time based on its settings.
This is a mountain bike ride that I do in 1 hour 30 minutes on average. The duration indicated seems correct to me.

It seems to me that the duration of this hike is incorrect – 1 hour 23 minutes for more than 28 km is not possible
