(S) We start our walk at the Belvedere Train Station. Exit the station on Norman Road and walk straight up (North) the street until you reach Clydesdale Way (600 m or so).
(1) You see a Starbucks Drive-Through in front of you. Walk across the car park to the other side of the building. You arrive at the A2016 (Picardy Manorway). Find the zebra crossing to cross the motorway safely. Once on the other side, take left on the A2016 (West) and then right (North) on Norman Road.
(2) Turn left (West) on the first footpath and start your walk in the marshes. After 130 m the path bends towards the North-West and then after 250 m changes direction again, this time heading towards North-East. Continue on this path for a total of 780 m until you reach a paved road.
(3) Turn left (West) on the paved road. Walk for 230 m and you arrive at a crossing with a footpath. Turn left (South-West) on the footpath.
(4) After 400 m you arrive at a crossroad. Take the path on your right (North-West) parallel to the A2016 (Eastern Way). Continue on this path for 1.1 Km or so.
(5) When you arrive at the end of the path, turn left (South-West) on Balzagette Way. Walk under the A2016 (Eastern way). Continue on this road for 370 m. You find on both sides of the road 2 blue gates with the inscription "Erith Marshes" and "The Ridgeway".
(6) Walk under the arch where it is written The Ridgeway and turn right (North-East) heading towards the North-East. 510 m or so later, the path splits in different directions. Continue on the path on your right (North-East). Follow the Ridgeway trail for 1.1 km in total towards North-East until you reach the River Thames.
(7) You arrive at the River Thames. Take left (North-West) on the Thames Path. The path then bends towards the West and then South West. Follow the well-indicated Thames Path with the River Thames on your right-hand side, for 6.3 Km until you reach the Woolwich Foot Tunnel entrance where the path stops.
(8) Walk past the entrance of the foot tunnel and turn left (South) onto Glass Yard. Then take the first street on your right (West). At the Ambulance Station, turn right (North). Cross over the A2204 (Ferry Approach) and walk back to the River Thames towpath.
(9) Once you are back on the River bank, turn left (West) on the Thames Path. Walk on the Thames Path for 610 m.
(10) The path then moves away from the River bank. Turn left onto Warspite Road (South) and then right (West) onto Bowater Road. At the crossroad with Unity Way, turn left (South) onto Unity Way.
(11) At the first zebra crossing on your right (North), cross Unity Way to join a footpath on the other side of the road leading straight back to the bank of the River Thames.
(12) Once you arrive at the River Thames, turn left (South-West) onto the Thames Path in direction of the Thames Barriers. The footpath diverts a bit from the river bank when you arrive at the barrier. Simply follow the signs. You walk on the Thames Path for 1.5 Km on this section of the walk.
(13) You then arrive at the Yacht Club Garden. The path diverts from the river bank around the building and then back on the bank. Follow the path going in the North-West until you reach the O2 arena. As you walk around the arena, the path then turns towards the South-West, then South and South-West again. Stay on the Thames Path for a distance of 1 Km.
(14) When you arrive at the Nandos, turn left (South) to walk on the path between Greenwich University and the Cutty Sark. After you walk past the Cutty Sark, the path becomes a road called King William Walk. Continue straight (South-East) on King William Walk until you reach the crossroad with A 206 (Romney Road). Turn left (North-East) on A206 (Romney Road).
(15) After 150 m you find an entrance gate to the park on your right-hand side (South-East) in front of the National Maritime Museum. Take this entrance and as you get to the museum, walk on the footpath on the left (North-East) of the building.
(16) At the end of the path, turn right (South-West) and take the first path on your left (South-East). Continue straight (South-East) on this path until you reach a marble-like paved semi-circle with benches on it.
(17) When you are at the benches, take the path on your left (East). The path then bends towards the South East. After 170 m, you arrive at the Royal Observatory. (E)
