Around Libourne: from Les Billaux to Les Dagueys

Car park opposite the Bricorama Les Billaux private car park.

(S/E) From the car park, cross the roundabout (beware of heavy and fast-moving traffic) and continue straight ahead to reach Rue du 19 mars 1962. Turn right, then immediately left onto Allée des Cigognes until you reach the stadium.

(1) Turn right, then right again onto Chemin des Prés.

(2) Before the bend, turn left along the trees and follow the path which goes round a small lake on the right. At the end, turn right towards the motorway.

(3) Turn right onto the small road running parallel to the motorway until you reach the first path on the left.

(4) Take the track on the left to go under the A89 and carry on straight ahead along the track in front of you.

(5) Turn right to reach the banks of the Isle, which you will follow on the left. Cross the small bridge until you reach the D18E3.

(6) Take the road on the left, go under the D18, then at the fork, keep left. Ignore the first road on the right and turn right at the next 90° bend (Chemin des Prés de Coutras).

(7) At the next junction, take the track on the left. Make a 90° left-hand turn and go under the A89.

(8) At the T-junction that follows, turn left, pass by a gravel pit and take the first path on the left. Turn into the first path on the right, cross two roads via a tunnel and then another (with care) to return to the stadium.

(1) Turn right and follow the route you took on the way there to reach the car park (S/E).

Note: This route follows (from 1 to) 6:: the one called “Les Billaux”; the difference is that it is 3 km longer and returns via the Lac des Dagueys Water Sports Centre.
Important: this route takes you off the beaten track; all the landmarks mentioned in the description (local place names, castle names, as well as high-voltage power lines, bridges, etc.) are shown on the corresponding IGN 1:25,000 map but are not always included on the scaled-down map.
It is strongly recommended that you either obtain the aforementioned map or use the app on a smartphone, which will also allow you to be geolocated at all times, enabling you to track your progress accurately.
The route may cross or follow other marked trails. It is tempting to follow the markers! Unless otherwise specified, do not stray from this route…
