The route begins and ends in Saulx-les-Chartreux, in the large car park to the west of the Étang de Saulx lake, on the edge of the Voie de Champlan.
(S/E) Head towards the Route de Champlan, cross it and take thePR®10along the Yvette river. After a few metres, cross the footbridge on the left and follow the Boële on your left. Continue along the path for 1.2 km until you reach the Avenue de la Plesse, which is very busy but well signposted.
(1) Cross this road by first turning right then left and continuing on thePR®10(Promenade de l'Yvette). The path reaches a small bridge over the Yvette on the right. Cross the bridge and continue left along the river. Continue to the tunnel under the A10 motorway. Depending on the time of year, admire the street art collections, often beautifully painted on the tunnel walls. Continue along the path beside the Yvette to the pedestrian tunnel under the Palaiseau-Villiers road.
(2) Take the pedestrian tunnel and continue along the Promenade de l'Yvette to the Parc du Près des Roches.
At the end of the park, take the path to the left, walk alongside a children's playground, and go up Rue des Dahlias. Take the street on the right for 50 metres.
(3) Turn left onto Rue des Edelweiss and, at the end of this street, turn left onto Rue des Pivoines, then quickly turn right onto the narrow Sentier du Parc à Foulon (between two stone walls). At the end of the path, turn right onto Rue des Maraîchers and continue for about 50 metres.
(4) Turn left onto Sentier du Rocher (also between two stone walls). After 80 metres, turn left onto Chemin des Écoles. Continue along this path, which runs alongside the motorway on your right and the primary school on your left, until you reach the junction with Route de Villiers. Turn right and take care when crossing the viaduct over the A10 motorway. This section is unavoidable and is the only one with heavy traffic, so if you are in a group, make sure you stay on the wide pavement.
Take advantage of the traffic lights to cross to the left-hand pavement of the viaduct.
(5) After the viaduct, you can continue along this road and cross the busy Avenue de la Plesse at the traffic lights. However, for a more peaceful route, turn left at the crossroads after crossing the viaduct onto Rue Eugène Cordeau. Continue for 250 metres and turn right at the stop sign onto Rue du Cimetière. Follow this street until you cross Avenue de la Plesse. There is a pedestrian crossing, but as traffic is heavy and fast, take every precaution to ensure that groups can cross safely. This pedestrian crossing is located between two traffic lights, 300 m apart. This means that traffic stops at times. Choose this moment to start crossing and ensure that everyone can cross safely on both sides.
After crossing the road, continue straight ahead on the path for about 700 metres until you reach the woods. Turn left and follow the path to the small bridge over the Ruisseau des Paradis.
(6) Take the path on the left before the bridge and follow the stream on the right until you reach Chemin des Chartreux.
(7) Turn right onto Chemin de Saulx les Chartreux and cross the small stone bridge over the stream. Continue for 300 metres until you reach Rue de Boutigny in the village of Saulx. Turn left and, at Rue de la Division Leclerc, follow this street for 200 metres to the left.
(8) Keep left and take the narrow lane that descends between the houses like a courtyard. You will reach a wooded park. Enter the park and follow a wooden footbridge. Continue along the footbridge, always keeping left at the forks. The footbridge ends at the exit gate on Route de Champlan.
(9) Cross the road (pedestrian crossing and central reservation) and continue along the path opposite. After 250 m, you will reach the Promenade de l'Étang de Saulx. Turn right and follow this path around the lake (approximately 2.2 km) and return to the car park (S/E).
