Around Fen Ditton, along the Cam River

A picturesque walk (public paths) along the famous river that gave its name to Cambridge. Enjoy seeing the rowers racing in their fragile boats, the cox shouting at them, and the coach biking along the path.

Description de la randonnée

(S/E) From Saint-Mary the Virgin Church (Fen Ditton), follow Church Sreet (North-West) for 200m. When the street goes left, keep walking straight on in the sports fields and aim for a path on the right of the hedge at the end of the field.

Continue on that path with houses on your left-hand side (North-North-East) for 300m until the T-junction.

(1) Turn left (West) here and, at the road, turn right (North), avoiding a private field. Reach the Cam river under the bridge of the A14, and follow the Cam, keeping it on your left-hand side until you reach Baits Bite Lock lock at Wildfowl Cottage.

(2) Cross the Cam on the two little bridges on your left. At the end of them, walk left again (South-West) on the Fen Rivers Way with the Cam River on your left-hand side. Go under the A14 bridge again and walk straight ahead on the riverside until you reach the railroad.

(3) Here, cross the Cam river on your left and go left again (East) along the Cam in the Ditton Meadows. Carry straight on along the riverside. Eventually, the path will curves right (East). Keep following it until you reach the end of Fen Ditton High Street. Walk straight onto the High Street back to Saint-Mary the Virgin Church (Fen Ditton).(S/E)
