Amroth circular via Colby Woodland

This is a delightful walk climbing up from the coast by Amroth Castle through woodland and then traversing west through a farm to eventually reach Colby Woodland Garden, which is National Trust but has free entry to all visitors. Spend time in the garden before returning to the coast via a minor road and then east along the coastal path to the parking.

Description of the walk

Park in the layby just past The New Inn, Amroth SA678NW, or take the bus 351 from Pendine or Tenby and get off at Amroth Castle, see Notes.

(S/E) Start at the layby, walk 200 meters west, turn right on the footpath and climb, bearing right into the wood for about 2 kilometres.

(1) Turn left with Trelessy farm on your right. Follow the farm road 300 meters, at the farm building bear left, and after clearing sheds, bear left again. After 300 metres, fork right off the farm track/road, climbing through the wood and down along the field boundary to reach the road. Turn right, and after 100 metres, turn right opposite the church. Fork left after 100 metres. Follow the road for 600 metres to reach waymark 2 (Colby Walled Garden).

(2) Turn left into Colby Woodland Garden National Trust (Free).
Take time to look around, enjoy the cafe and use the toilets, etc.
Follow the footpath west of the open area for about 500 metres to reach the southerly exit.

(3) At the exit, turn sharp left to cross over with the building on your left and at the footpath T junction, bear right. After about 1 kilometre, at the road, bear right to descend and reach the front in Amroth. Bear left to return to the parking in about 1 kilometre.
