Park your car in Bourton-on-the-Water (many car parks). Start at "the Kingsbridge Inn" in front of River Windrush and next to "The Croft".
(S/E) Walk along the river in North West direction, go past "TheVictoria Hall". Cross over the road and turn left in Sherborne Street next to "Bakery on the Water". Continue straight this street until you reach a fork. Bear immediately right to the public footpath "Windrush Way". Walk this lovely path along the river for 500 metres before you reach Landsdowne Road. Walk along the pavement on the left until you reach the crossroads with A429.
(1) Cross over the main road and follow the public bridleway "Windrush Way" along field edges for one kilometre before you reach a junction with Gloucestershire Way next to private property. Ignore this way but continue straight ahead. Go past "Little Aston Mill" and turn right "Windrush Way" at the T-junction.
(2) You finally reach Aston Farm buildings. Skirt left side (blue arrow). Go across the open meadow and follow blue arrows along field edges before you enter the woods. Continue straight this beautiful upper path section with larches. Then, you leave the woods following the valley leading to a road.
(3) Turn left ascending this road for 100 metres before you turn right to Windrush Way. Go across the long open field passing under the power line.
(4) At the junction with two gates, go across the green kissing-gate on your right and ascend the open field following the blue arrow (bridleway) at the top of the hill. Then, be careful, keep the track across a golf course that leads to the road after 500 metres. Cross over the road (B4068).
(5) Continue down the path which overlooks Nauton and turn right at the next fork until you reach beautiful Nauton Dovecote after you crossed over River Windrush. Bear right at the main road in the village and continue for 300 metres.
(6) Go up at crossroads, from now on you follow Warden's Way. After a few metres, turn right going across the open meadow before you go diagonally across several fields (notice signpost with green colour) before you reach a track. At the end of the track, bear right walking the path along the road for 650 metres.
(7) Continue along another road on your left before you cross it over to join a track. Go straight for 300 metres and follow the track on your right when you see the blue arrow sign (bridleway) past a farm building. Continue this way leading to private property for almost one mile. Then, turn left and walk along the B4068 for 350 metres (be careful, traffic road!). Then, bear right to the track with "Warden's Way" signpost along River Eye for almost one mile before you reach Upper Slaughter.
(8) Ascend the road for a few yards and turn immediately right to the footpath which leads to lovely St Peter's Church. Then, continue the path leading to a square and a car park admiring beautiful houses.
(9) Go slightly down the main road on the left, go past "Lords of Manor" entrance and take the public footpath "Warden's Way" on the right.
(10) Go across the meadow with beautiful oak trees before you bear right at the fork when you enter a second grassland. Walk along River Eye before you enter Lower Slaughter.
(11) Turn right, go past the gorgeous Old Mill Museum. Walk along the river in this lovely village.
(12) Next to Copsehill Road, turn right to "Bourton-on-the-Water, Warden's Way" at the right angle close to the water. After 150 metres, ignore a path on your left along River Eye but continue straight ahead Warden's Way. At the main road, turn right along Fosse Way for 150 metres before you turn left on Station Road for 450 metres.
(13) Turn right, go past Cotswold School and rugby fields. Cross over School Hill before you join High Street. Bear left, walk this street for 300 metres and you are back to the start close to "The Kingsbridge Inn".(S/E)
